Quiet as a Whisper
Quiet as a Whisper
deprived of breath
Older than time
witness to life and death
How is it that
the branches reach
while sub-roots descend?
Does not each,
pursue life’s little bends
Each guarding
Magical, mystical secrets
Older than mushroom
younger than stardust
Thriving with life
stand noble and just
Guardians of lifetimes,
Witness to all
Of critters and pixies
Big ones and small
Tales ever hidden
Neath canopies tall
Reds in a forest
Oh, never fall
‘fore telling the stories
Of one and of all
Boundaries protected
confessions ne’er reveal
Holding our truths
neath bark where they heal
Tales ever forgotten
inauthentic or real?
You hold the mystery
To not repeat history
Yet…
Quiet as a whisper
deprived of breath
oh, redwoods tall
stand most faithful of all
When a tree falls in the forest, it creates vibrations;
not to be heard, lest
an ear is present
to translate, rendering sound.
At this I heard a crack of approval in the forest near.
